The Shannon and Wedge burr range is used in percutaneous techniques.
Characteristics and materials
Characteristics:
Shannon burrs are used to cut bone and are available in 4 versions:
- Short Shannon reamer: Ø 2 x 8 mm
- Long Shannon reamer: Ø 2 x 12 mm
- Shannon Isham reamer: Ø 2 x 12 mm
- XL Shannon burr: Ø 2 x 22 mm
Wedge burrs are used to cut and shape bone, and are available in 2 versions:
- Wedge burr: Ø 3 x 13 mm
- Wedge burr: Ø 4 x 13 mm
Materials:
Shannon and Wedge percutaneous burrs are made from stainless steel.
Indications
Shannon and Wedge burrs are indicated for percutaneous use in treating forefoot conditions:
- Hallux valgus
- Metatarsalgia
